Steve has been working in the arts and designing websites since 1999. His formal education began at North Country Community College in Saranac Lake, NY where he graduated with an Associate of Science degree in Wilderness Recreation Leadership. For several years after college, Steve dabbled in freelance photography, moving between his hometown of State College, PA and the Rocky Mountains of CO. In 1998, he enrolled in a two-year Professional Certificate of Photography with the New York Institute of Photography (completed in 2000). At this time, he also created his first website to showcase his photography.
In 1999, Steve relocated to Missoula, Montana and continued studying photography at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography. While working as a professional framer at a local gallery, Steve continued updating his photography website and using Photoshop to prepare his photos for sale. He soon developed a strong passion for web design and computer graphics. In 2000, he earned his Certified Internet Webmaster and I-Net Plus certifications from New Horizons Computer Training Center.
Steve started Suloff Designs in 2000 as a part-time venture that began with the creation of an on-line gallery for artist, Kip Herring. (Kip is still a Suloff Designs client). In 2001, he embarked on another new adventure, teaching computer skills as a Photoshop Instructor at New Horizons.
After relocating to the Adirondacks in 2001, Steve continued his computer and graphic design education by completing a 2-year certificate in Web Design through Sessions.Edu. In 2003, he taught computer training courses for North Country Community College’s Center for Lifelong Learning. Suloff Designs continued to grow and expand, so Steve went full-time with the business in 2004. He currently guest lectures occasionally for NCCC’s Computer Graphics department.
Steve stays current on industry trends by participating in on-line forums and conferences, reading trade publications and completing trainings through Adobe and Macromedia. He is the primary technician for Suloff Designs websites.
When not at his computer, Steve enjoys fishing, mountaineering, remodeling his woodland chalet and Harry Potter.
